An education trust is pleased to welcome a village school into the fold.

Hopton Church of England Primary Academy, near Diss and Thetford, has joined Elveden Schools Trust.

The trust said it marked an exciting new chapter for both the school and the wider educational community.

The trust now has three schools: Elveden C of E Primary Academy, in Elveden, St Edmundsbury C of E Primary Academy, in Bury St Edmunds, and now Hopton.

Lorna Rourke, chief executive officer of Elveden Schools Trust, said the move brought Hopton C of E Primary Academy into a growing family of schools committed to high-quality teaching, strong pastoral support, and collaborative practice.

As part of Elveden Schools Trust, Hopton Academy will benefit from shared expertise, enhanced professional development opportunities, and a collective commitment to enriching learning experiences for all pupils, she added.

Mrs Rourke, CEO of Elveden Schools Trust and executive head, said: “We are delighted to welcome Hopton Academy into our trust.

“Their expertise, dedication to inclusion, and strong community ethos align perfectly with our values. Together, we will continue to invest in high-quality education and create even more opportunities for our pupils and staff.”

Hopton Academy’s head of school, Jo Whiting, said: “Joining Elveden Schools Trust is an exciting step for our school.

“This partnership will allow us to build on our strengths, access wider support and ensure every child continues to receive an exceptional education. We are excited about the future and the opportunities this collaboration will bring.”

Parents, carers, and members of the community recently attended a trust launch and community day which gave them the opportunity to meet trustees and Local Academy Committee members and discuss the ‘exciting’ plans ahead.

The community was instrumental in developing the Hopton school site including the Forest School area which is now also open to pre-school children, the OPAL playground and the new and improved Early Years classroom.

The Elveden Schools Trust is hoping more schools will join in the future.
